John Adams
BA(Honours)(UWA), LLB(SCU), Grad Dip LPrac (CollLaw)
Born and raised in Perth, John graduated in Law from Southern Cross University in 1997. Before being admitted as a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of NSW in February 2004 he acted as instructing clerk in Supreme and District Court criminal trials in Brisbane and Lismore. He then practiced as a solicitor in Liverpool before escaping the city to become, for a couple of years, a small town solicitor in the Riverina.
Prior to beginning his legal career John's occupations have included being a secondary teacher, labourer, chef, single father, museum cataloguer, therapeutic masseur, traveller and writer. He has one daughter who works as a translator in Mexico City.
When he arrived in Armidale John felt that he'd finally come home. He believes this may have more to do with its cosmopolitan feel - he is most at home in second-hand bookshops and good coffee shops - than his mother's family's reluctance to leave on his grandfather's promotion 75 years ago.
