David was educated at St Ignatius College, Riverview and the University of New England. He holds a Bachelor of Arts (Political Science), Bachelor of Laws and a Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice. He was admitted as a solicitor of the Supreme Court of New South Wales in May 2001, having joined Liston and Clifton in 2000. David became a Partner of the Firm in May 2003.

Prior to becoming a solicitor, David had twenty five years experience in business including fifteen years as owner/operator of a motor dealership and a number of associated businesses which his family had operated since 1912. He then took up a position as a Project Manager with the University of New England in Armidale.

David practices predominantly in the fields of  family law, criminal law, general litigation, local government law, conveyancing, wills and estates and business law. He is also an accredited mediator, particularly in the area of family law and personal conflict. He is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Management.

David is married to Toni and they have three adult children, Christopher, Edwina and Charles.
