Chris LeahyChris Leahy

Born and raised in Papua New Guinea, Chris attended boarding school in Sydney for 8 years then attended the Australian National University in Canberra where he graduated in Arts and Law.

After graduating and completing his practical legal training, Chris was admitted as a solicitor in the Australian Capital Territory and New South Wales.  He then moved to Sydney where he worked for one of the country's largest law firms for nearly 3 years.  He worked mainly in the property and financial areas as a transactional lawyer.

After nearly 3 years of legal employment, Chris spent a year conducting camping tours through southern Europe, Scandinavia and North Africa.

On returning to Sydney, Chris became a barrister in 1978. He has been a barrister for 33 years – the last 10 years as senior counsel.

As a barrister, Chris appeared mainly as a trial and appellate advocate in common law, estates and wills, crime, environmental and local government and commercial work.  His clients included insurers, corporations, local councils and individuals.

Having worked as both as a solicitor and barrister, Chris brings a broad background of experience and expertise to solving a range of legal issues.  His background and experience enables him to take instructions in a litigation matter and retain conduct of the matter until the dispute is finally determined by a court or otherwise resolved.

His early experience in a large commercial legal firm enables him to advise clients and prepare documents for conveyancing and other general property matters, commercial transactions, wills and estates.

Chris is married to Marg, a garden designer and horticulturist.  They have 2 daughters and a son.
